A memoir of growing up in Flagstaff, Arizona, Erika Alexander’s GOLDBRICK (forthcoming) tells the story of her parents, two orphaned teenagers who settled down in a ponderosa pine-covered cow town after attending bible college. Her father was an itinerant preacher and her mother, Sammie J. Alexander, once a schoolteacher, is author of a children’s book, AYO AND THE RAINBOW FOREST.
I feel like Jessica DuLong and I are spiritually connected. She has been responsible for a lot of awakenings in my life through our work on my memoir. Jessica understands story and has encouraged me to keep going, keep pushing, and write like hell without censoring myself. She has offered a guiding light, showing me the way, helping me find my own voice on the page, as she does with so many other writers.
