SUMMARY:Meet the Authors: Beth SK Morris and Jessica DuLong
DESCRIPTION:\nCome to a reading for the 25th anniversary of 9/11, featuring authors Beth SK Morris and Jessica DuLong, who were inspired to write poems and stories based on work done by first responders and volunteers in the days and weeks after 9/11.\n\n\n\nBeth SKMorris, author of: Nowhere to be Found (2014), In the Aftermath- 9/11 Through a Volunteer’s Eye’s, (2021), and A Yellowed Notebook (2025). In the Aftermath was re-released in July 2026 with additional poems to commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2026. Beth is a member of Hudson Valley Writers Center and Poets House in New York. The author holds Master’s degrees in Speech Science, English Language & Literature, and a Ph.D in Speech, Language, & Hearing Science.\n\n\n\nJessica DuLong is a Brooklyn-based author, journalist, editor, and NYT-bestselling book collaborator/writing coach. She lectures internationally on the craft of narrative. Her book, Saved at the Seawall: Stories from the September 11 Boat Lift, the definitive history of the world’s largest waterborne evacuation, was featured in Spike Lee’s docuseries NYC Epicenters. Her debut title, My River Chronicles, traces the rise and fall of respect for hands-on work across four centuries of American history and recounts DuLong’s experiences aboard retired 1931 NYC fireboat John J. Harvey where she served as an engineer for two decades, 11 years as chief. For CNN.com, DuLong writes about wellness and longevity; psychology and neuroscience; grief and trauma; and race, gender, and justice.\n\n\n\nThis program is made possible through the support of the Friends of the Dobbs Ferry Library\n\n\n\n\n
