Russell Shorto and historians, including Jessica DuLong, Benjamin Carp (The Great New York Fire of 1776) and Barnet Schecter (George Washington’s America: A Biography Through His Maps), gathered aboard the Tall Ship Wavertree on June 5, 2022 at the South Street Seaport Museum for a panel discussion on the beginnings of New Amsterdam and how the choices of the Dutch shaped what became New York.
